Snow Loco At National Railway Museum

The staff at the National Railway Museum in York have not been letting the snow get them down and have put the snow to good use by creating a locomotive made entirely of snow which proudly stands outside the entrance to the museum and is attracting some good attention.

The snow locomotive is modelled on the Mallard and was built this morning by a team of 20 staff.

Helen Ashby, the Museum’s Acting Director, said:

“All the staff had a fantastic time this morning building our snow locomotive – and our visitors seem to love our temporary addition to the collection. The Museum has been open throughout this week’s ‘big freeze’ and continues to offer a warm welcome to visitors able to battle the elements to get to us in York. I’d encourage anyone who is able to safely make the journey to come and see our snow loco before it melts!”

If you are in the York area and are able to safely journey to the National Railway Museum, then why not go along and see the snowy locomotive before it melts, along with the 100 trains in the museum.

Have you been building any snow men or other snow objects if so let me know what you've created in the snow!
