At Valley View Farm Holiday Cottages we’re open all year round and this year we’re pleased to be welcoming guests for the Christmas and New Year break, where they will be enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the North York moors and spending precious family time together.




It may seem like a distant thought but we’re busy preparing our calendar for exciting events happening in North Yorkshire in 2016! The end of January hosts the Big Garden Birdwatch at Sutton Bank National Park Centre, meet wildlife artist Peter Reynolds and help RSPB’s Chris Pye with the bird count across the moors. This is a great family weekend with children’s crafts and nature trails, which will encourage your kid’s to get birdwatching! What’s more you can continue the nationwide survey and record the birds which you spot in your own garden too!


With six self-catering holiday cottages located on our working family farm in the rural village of Old Byland in the North York Moors. With discounts running across our cottages during the off peak season, you can book a last minute break for your family. With miles and miles of rolling countryside and scenic views to take in, there’s plenty of wildlife to explore at Valley View Farm - including two barn owls that like to pay a visit from time to time.

But next year hosts a very exciting event for cyclists and sport spectators …. Tour de Yorkshire.


With Tour de Yorkshire 2014 remaining a lasting legacy throughout the area, we’re so excited for its return! Millions lined the race’s route cheering support for Bradley Wiggins, Ed Clancy and Sarah Storey (to name a few) as they wound their way through the glorious Yorkshire countryside, the atmosphere was electrifying! With many local businesses taking part, schools and volunteers playing part in the cycling event it demonstrates the community spirit at the heart of Yorkshire.



Neighbouring Scarborough hosts one of the start and finishing lines for the race during the weekend. Valley View Farm is a perfect place to stay during the event. With six gorgeous cottages to choose from and prices starting from £295 for a 7 night stay, you’re promised a memorable holiday away!

The Tour de France of 2014 inspired scores of folk to get on their bikes and take up cycling as a hobby, so why not explore the North Yorkshire scenery by bike? With a network of cycling routes across the Yorkshire Moors and extending out across the Yorkshire coast, you can explore the scenery and stop off for refreshments at local pubs too!

At Valley View Farm we welcome all pets to stay at our cottages, we certainly have had some wonderful creatures stay with us, from dogs and cats to giant snails. Our latest guests are no exception to our animal friendly cottages, we’re welcoming six horses and their owners to Valley View. Because we are a working farm, there are plenty of fields for your horses to reside whilst you enjoy your break away in the North York Moors.

There is no better place to have a canter than in North Yorkshire, you can explore the coastline, discover the National Parks and enjoy endless routes specifically for horse riders. Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean the holiday season is! At Valley View Farm we have self-catering holiday cottages to rent all year round in the heart of North Yorkshire. RSPB Weekly Walks – Bempton Cliffs, Bridlington

With themed walks planned every Friday throughout November running through to January, you can explore local history and heritage with the help of a friendly volunteer guide. From ‘Geowalks’ to child friendly workshops and binocular and telescope demonstration, this is a fun day out for all the family. Make sure you book in advance!




Bridlington Real Ale Festival – 13th-14th November 2015

Showcasing Britain’s finest real ales and ciders, with food and great live music from the best local acts this isn’t an event to miss! Booking is essential.




 Robin Hoods Bay Victorian Weekend – 5th-7th December 2015

An annual event to get the locals in the festive spirit, with guided walks, spectacular views, treasure hunts, storytelling and Christmas lights a plenty this is a magical day out for all the family! Fancy dress is optional – but why not join in the fun?
