Valley View Farm Guest Book

It is always a delight to get feedback from our guests here at Valley View Farm, so we thought that we would share some of the feedback we have been given.

“Beautiful location, cottage clean and comfortable. The setting for these cottages is ideal if you want peace and quiet. It is a bit remote but as long as you have transport that is not a problem just remember to stock up while you are out as there is not a local shop! The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and comfy. Well equipped kitchen. Lots to see and do in Yorkshire. Whitby abbey is a must see and the James Herriott museum in Thirsk is great especially for children. Also for a great and FREE outing , Yorkshire Lavender is a great place to visit. Stunning scenery and the wonderful frangrance of lavender , also great cream teas. We hope to stay here again."  “Lovely, relaxed stay. - Everything was lovely, the delicious cake and tea things left for us were greatly appreciated after a long drive from the highlands. Just a minor irritation was that the televisions in the bedrooms did not appear to work at all and were very outdated as was the set in the main room although we were able to receive some channels on this. Didn't disrupt our holiday though as the children were better off for a tv break! Wish there had been a visitor book and also some local information rather than out of date leaflets for whole of Yorkshire. Other than that a really lovely, beautifully decorated place to stay." “Very Good. Would go again and recommend. The cleanliness and staff service was excellent. Value for money only 4* because holiday cottages anywhere in UK are dear compared to trip abroad. Location only 4* because it would not be ideal for a late autumn winter stay if weather bad as very narrow roads from farm. Services and Facilities - only facilities apply really in a cottage and they were very good." August 2013

“Very comfortable. Thank you for a lovely stay at your cottages. It was nice to back after a long day and have a comfortable place to stay." July 2013

"Wonderful, comfortable accommodation - We were warmly greeted upon arrival and given a quick tour of our cottage. Spacious cottage, comfortable furniture, incomparable views. We had everything we needed for a"home" away from home for the week. This was an excellent location for touring the area and we grew to love the little lanes and country views as we headed out each day. Our host provided a local tour book as well as suggested sites and walks in the area which was an extra-added bonus for us. I highly recommend this cottage and a visit to this beautiful part of England. " June 2013

"Excellent Holiday cottage. Warm, spacious, has all the requirements you need to either snuggle down in a blizzard or venture out into the beautiful countryside. Lovely kitchen, one that cooks who like to experiment can enjoy and make the most of local food. Beds very comfortable, all ensuite & downstairs bedroom/shower room perfect for my elderly parents. Our dogs were made most welcome, with no quibbles about size or hidden extra costs, and they enjoyed themselves too. Plenty of walks direct from cottage, but you have some of the best of Yorkshire within a half hour drive. Check out VV Farm website for full details of where to go and what to see, but NY Moors railway, Whitby and Rievaulx Abbey all a must see. We have stayed four times, all in depths of Winter (and we are talking serious snow here), but had fun as in 4x4s. This cottage has an extra to be found no where else! Ladies, this is the home of Ample Bosom, a fantastic place to purchase some fabulous underwear. This is farm diversity at its very best. You can try on what you want, while you stay. Finally, this is a seriously welcoming stay, with a lovely Yorkshire Tea on arrival, all the comforts you might need, and the loveliest of hard working people on hand to help if required. “Excellent and very relaxing. The cottage was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. The cost was broadly comparable to other cottages in the area and we would certainly consider staying again as the location is superb: our young son is obsessed with tractors and farms, so he was in his element. Very impressed with the facilities and both a dishwasher and free WiFi were excellent additions to what one might usually expect. Overall, we had a lovely week and found the cottage very comfortable." November 2012.

“good”house was clean, tidy and very warm. was a bit basic furniture. Loved the area. Only major fault was the dogs on farm were growling and barking a lot, i love dogs but was concerned as did not know if they were contained.
My coments on the furniture was only my opinion, the kitchen was small but i liked it

“Good relaxing stayed before so knew what to expect." October 2012

“Very pleasant and comfortable stay.We were given a wonderful welcome tour of the cottage by Carol and enjoyed the fruit loaf with a cup of tea, after our long journey.
Everyone at Valley View Farm were always ready to give helpful advice beit on interesting places to visit or places to eat. Well worth a stay." September 2012

“Excellent - a lovely place to stay - We stayed in the Granary cottage with 4 dogs. Very spacious and couldn't fault the cottage or setting in anyway. Plenty of car parking. Sally is lovely and her cake is very tasty! Plenty to see and do in the area. Everyone very friendly." August 2012

 “Very good” July 2012

“Excellent as always - Perfect location - this is our 3rd stay & we will be back again." June 2012

“Wow absolute fabulous cottages" 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2012. "Our party stayed in the Holt Cottage and Drey Cottage, both double up for 10 people. Both cottages are well equipped and have everything you could possibly need. Both are very warm and cosy and very much home from home. Our 4th year and certainly won't be our last. The surrounding area is breathtaking and ideal base for touring the North York Moors. The cottages are situated on a working farm and the little village of Old Byland is superb. Stayed June 2012."

“Very good accommodation and facilities - This was our third visit and being able to take our dogs was a great bonus as they are made welcome." April 2012

“Only wish we could have stayed longer! - Good quality self catering cottage on a busy working farm set in beautiful NYM countryside, close to Reivaux and handy for Helmsley.
The only reason we didn't give top marks for staff service is that our stay was at the height of the lambing season so everyone was understandably rather busy! Lovely people when we did see them.
Highly recommended.
Kids wanted to know when we could return - even before we had left!" April 2012

“Excellent - Family get-together for wide ranging age group.Different sleeping arrangements suited us, with a mixture of twin and double rooms.Having the 2 adjoining cottages meant that we could base ourselves in Holt for communal meals, and when the 2 younger members of our party went to bed at night in Drey we were still effectively in the same building.
All in all a brilliant time, cottages are well situated for many local attractions.
We will definitely be back! Thankyou." April 2012

“The family were very helpful, the accommodation and break was just what we was looking for. Would recommend and hope to go again." March 2012

“Enjoyable stay.” 13/03/2012

“Very comfortable and enjoyable stay.” 09/01/2012

“We really enjoyed our stay at Valley View Farm Cottages. Our cottage we extremely clean, well equipped, spacious and with excellent facilities (particularly the en suite bathrooms to all bedrooms!). Would have liked some cleaning equipment and materials in case we needed to clean the floor after dogs/kids or the toilets etc. and the TV was a bit complicated to use (numerous remotes!) and outdated; however, this did not spoil our stay in the slightest. Thank you for making our Christmas so comfortable!" January 2012

“Quiet location with good access to local walks.” 14/11/2011

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay. A lovely, peaceful location where I slept well, welcoming and helpful hosts." November 2011

"17 of us, as one family, had a great long weekend here in October and found the cottages fully equiped with everything we needed. The views are stunning and the rooms all very clean and comfortable. Very well heated for the dullest of days, lovely comfortable beds and thick duvets. We were near enough to all the sights and York proved to be a good day out for some whilst others liked Scarborough and we liked Eden Camp WW2 museum. We all had lunch at The Feathers in Helmsley - carvery- excellent for our group aged from 7 to 87.
Definately recommended."

‘A very warm, comfortable and welcoming visit, all equipment is very clean and in good working order. We would like very much to return in the future and will definitely be recommending you to our friends’

‘We’ve had a wonderful weekend – so comfortable. Every amenity was here – thank you so much for letting us bring our dog and for making this cottage so warm and cosy’

‘Lovely clean, spacious cottage in beautiful tranquil location. Well equipped for children and adults! Will come again. Thank you’

‘A really enjoyable, comfortable few days, with everything we needed. Thank you very much’' Warm, inviting, as comfortable as usual, lovely welcome and friendly help, always beautifully clean and tidy. Big plus being able to bring dogs with no fuss - usual response to cottages is 'one small dog only' - useless to us'

"The scenery is wonderful, the cottages are clean and have all the home comforts making for a great, relaxing break. The walks from the farm are great and it's wonderful to see the animals on the farm. Sally and her staff are always so friendly. Sara "

"As soon as you walk through the door to the slice of cake and tea tray waiting for you the relaxation washes over you. Great walks and dog friendly! Love it! Sarah"

"A peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of life The cottage was cosy and warm with all the home comforts including deliciously snuggly duvets. We do not do walking or cycling but the farm was a wonderful base to come back to in the evenings. There are many superb restaurants nearby and the scenery is spectacular. The weather was horrible for most of the time we were there but it didn't dampen our enthusiasm and we we will definitely be going back. Thank you Sally. Sue"
