Big Garden Bird Watch January 2011

Just wanted to let you know that it's the big garden bird watch this weekend.

If like me, you love birds and want to help them, then the Big Garden Birdwatch is your chance to do something that really counts.

All you need is a pen, some paper, and an hour to spend watching the birds in your garden on either Saturday 29th January or Sunday 30th January 2011.

Just record the highest number of each bird species seen in your garden, or local park (not flying over) at any one time and then visit the RSPB website to record your findings.

If you are staying here at Valley View Farm Cottages over the weekend, you could still have a go at the Big Garden Bird Watch!

Valentine's Day 2011

With the festive season over, what is the next special occasion to look forward to, yes Valentine's Day!
Why not spend Valentines Day in North Yorkshire, here at Valley View Farm where you can spend a quiet and romantic break away from it all in our 4 star holiday cottages. The idyllic surroundings of the North York Moors make a perfect setting for a romantic break or a week away for the perfect Valentine's gift.

This year Valentine's Day falls on a Monday, so you could book a 4 night break from Friday 11th for just £205 in any of our three 1 bedroom cottages (Couch, Form & Formicary) we have here at Valley View Farm.

We can make your stay even more special as Valley View Farm Cottages can offer special arrangements for you and your loved one this Valentines Day.
We can arrange for such treats as;
  • Bouquet of flowers in the cottage.
  • Bottle of Champagne/wine/chocolates in the cottage.
  • Dinner reservations at any of our local excellent restaurants.
  • Book a pampering treatment at the local beautician.
  • A hamper of Yorkshire fare in the cottage.
Why not choose the 'After Dinner Box Hamper' or treat yourself with the 'Champagne and Chocolates Hamper'. Click on this link to view the Hunters of Helmsley Hampers. Valley View Farm is able to arrange for you to have the Hunters of Helmsley hampers in your cottage. If you have ordered a hamper directly with Hunters, then they will arrange delivery of your hamper with an additional delivery charge of £5, please make them aware that you are staying with us as this charge is reduced for our guests.

So with Valentines Day planning to be done, why not book a weekend at one of our cosy romantic cottages, if you would like us to arrange champagne, candles and dinner for 2, just let us know and we will make sure that your stay is a very special one.

[Sutton+Bank+002.jpg]
There are long walks on the Moors, great country pubs to stop off on the way, and the romantic coastline is only a short trip away. I can thoroughly recommend a trip to Fountains Abbey where some of the most romantic scenes from Jane Austens 'Pride and Prejudice' were shot.

The Valley View Farm cottages are ideally situated for a quiet romantic break in 4 star self catering accommodation near the pretty market town of Helmsley.

Helmsley has lots to offer, explore the market place shops, watch the comings and goings of the motorbikes, see what’s playing at the Helmsley Arts Centre, visit Helmsley Castle or Helmsley Walled Garden.

Or you could book a Valentine's with a difference, especially if you and your partner are the adventurous types. So why not celebrate with someone special gliding off Sutton Bank? Just imagine gliding over the beautiful North York Moors and the stunning Yorkshire landscape. Gliding is the ultimate free flying experience, so why not soar like a bird above the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Stay in one of our cosy, romantic cottages for two and get a discount at Sutton Bank Flying Club when you book gliding through Valley View Farm Cottages.

Three of the cottages are ideal romantic retreats.

Couch Cottage is a one bedroom cottage (sleeps 2) which opens onto a courtyard with an amazing view.

Form Cottage is a one bedroom ground floor cottage (sleeps 2) with a kingsize bed and a modern bathroom with bath and shower.

Formicary Cottage is a delightful cosy single storey cottage and has one double bedroom with ensuite.

So plan ahead and surprise a loved one with a romantic break for two in the beautiful North York Moors, near Helmsley.
