Runswick Bay has been picked as a favourite secret beach by the BBC's Coast presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff.
In the Times Online article of 20 secret beaches in the British Isles, Miranda describes Runswick Bay as, "Sheltered by the lofty crag of Lingrow Knowle, Runswick Bay is a tranquil spot, a welcome stretch of sand on what is otherwise a walker’s coast. While it comes to life during the summer months, in winter it is a peaceful spot for a bit of beachcombing, with rocky outcrops where you’ll find fossils aplenty."
From this description it sounds like Runswick Bay would make an ideal day out at any time of year, so why not make your base one of my six Valley View Farm Cottages and enjoy a trip to Runswick Bay.
