Ravenscar - The Town That Never Was

Watching Countryfile on Easter Sunday, I was interested to learn about Ravenscar, "the town that never was!"

In Victorian times it was planned that Ravenscar would be developed into a thriving coastal town and holiday resort. However the plans were never carried out as the company went bankrupt before the town could be fully developed. What you will see today is a handful of houses but the roads and drainage system for a larger development.

The views from the cliffs make this unusual destination worth a visit and the beach is a rich fossil bed, so why not hunt for ammonites and belemnites.

Ravenscar is home to the Peak Fault, a major geological fault that has affected the shape of the landscape.

The Cleveland Way walk will also bring you to Ravenscar.

Why not make your base one of the Valley View Farm Cottages.
