St George's Day is today, the 23rd of April and marks the death of St George in 303 AD.
From the 15th century until the 18th century, St George's Day was traditionally a major feast and national holiday. However this tradition has not been continued.
Today you may see the St George's flag flying on St George's Day and in churches it is customary for the hymn Jerusalem to be played.
There is growing support for the resurgence of celebrating St George's Day and some would like to see it become a public holiday again.
