Sudden Oak Death

I had not heard about Sudden Oak Death until this week I thought it was some play on Sod's Law until I realised how very sinister this fungus is that is putting at risk one of the countrys' oldest and treasured trees. Not only is the Oak at risk but also Rhododendrons which are so beautiful in Spring, we still have some accommodation available for April and May so come and see the Oaks in their splendour in Dalby Forest, there are a network of forest roads including the 9 mile Forest Drive, you may also spot Crossbills, Nightjars and Roe Deer. For something a bit more active 'Go Ape' is an activity where you will have a bird's eye view of the trees, which is based in the forest.
The Rhododendrons can be seen in all their glory in the many gardens we have close to Old Byland, Newby Hall, Fountains Abbey and Harlow Carr just to mention a few.
