The Hole Of Horcum is like a natural amphitheatre which is close to the A169 between Pickering and Goathland. Legend says that the hole was created when a giant, named Wade, scooped up a large ball of earth and threw it at his wife in an angry rage, missing her and creating the hill called Blakey Topping. The Hole of Horcum is approximately 400ft deep, 1 mile long and a quarter of a mile long. In reality the Hole of Horcum was probably created by glacial ice flow.
Why not do one of the many Hole of Horcum walks?
Make your base one of the Valley View Farm Cottages so that you can explore the North Yorkshire Moors and the Hole of Horcum.
