Just wanted to let you know about some of the English Heritage events taking place at Rievaulx Abbey this year.
- Join the costumed Victorian falconers for spectacular aerial displays of Birds of Prey in flight in the abbey ruins at Easter (Sun 24 – Mon 25 Apr).
- A 17th century wedding takes place amidst the civil war (Sat 30 Apr – Mon 2 May). Will it be a happy ending for the newly weds or will the Royalists and Parliamentary forces tear them apart?
- A labyrinth walk at the abbey in May and June (Sat 28 May – Sun 5 Jun) is followed by evening celebrations as costumed characters create a welcoming evening atmosphere(Fri 3 – Sat 4 Jun).
- Medieval Crafts and Pastimes take over the abbey every weekend in July (Sat 2 – Sun 31 Jul weekends only).
- During the school summer holidays look out for the herbs planted around the abbey and discover how they would have been used by the medieval monks (Sat 23 Jul – Mon 29 Aug).
