Have you ever thought of banning Christmas in your house? Well in 1647 Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas.
The York Dungeon are recreating his reign of anti-festive terror, with henchmen patrolling the building nabbing culprits guilty of eating mince pies and hauling them in front of the Puritan courtroom, where Judge Mental will arrange sentencing.
The Dungeon's mirror maze will be strewn with wreaths embedded with skulls and roasted robins on spits.
To learn more about Cromwell's Banned visit York Dungeon between 11am-4pm, from the 12-27 December (closed Christmas Day); adults £14, children £10 (less if booked online.)
There is plenty to see and do in York over the festive season and Valley View Farm Cottages are less than an hours drive away so why not take a break at one of our cottages over the festive season, go on we won't tell Cromwell!
