Shepherds Purse Cheese, near Thirsk seem to be on a winning streak lately with their win at the Yorkshire Post Taste Awards 2009 in the the Dairy category for their Yorkshire Blue Cheese as well as collecting Gold for Mrs Bells Blue at the British Cheese Awards 2009, along with four bronzes.
Shepherds Purse Cheeses Ltd were the first company to reintroduce blue cheesemaking to Yorkshire since its disappearence from the county in the sixties with the rationalisation of the dairy industry.
You can purchase the award winning cheese at a number of retailers throughout the region and particularly in it's home town of Thirsk.
Thirsk is approximately a 20 minute drive from
