Pigs And Piglets On Neighbouring Farm

Pigs are one of my favourite farm animals and I couldn't resist taking these photos of the pigs and piglets on the farm up the road from us here at Valley View Farm.

The black and white pigs are the British Saddleback breed.

The pigs are enjoying rooting the grass in the field. Saddlebacks are a hardy breed so enjoy being outside. It looks like the piglets have some food in a trough which is separate from the sows. It seems that the farmer has put an electric fence up so that the sows can't eat the piglets food which is a good idea as the creep feed for piglets can make the sows have a poorly tummy if the sows eat it. The sows look like they are enjoying eating the grass.

The piglets only look a few weeks old - probably 4-6 weeks old at a guess.

What are your favourite farm animals? Do you have pigs and if so what is your favourite breed?
