Astronomy Events October Half Term 2011

I just wanted to let you know about the astronomy events taking place in York this October half term.

• Astronomy Day and Night - 27 October A day of looking at the stars and planets in and around the York Observatory in the Museum Gardens.
• Get Creative 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4pm Draw the stars and model a planet at these drop-in workshops.
• Observatory Open Day 11.30am - 2.30pm Come and look around the oldest working observatory in Yorkshire.
• Meet the Astronomer 12.30pm - 1pm Astronomer Martin Lunn will show you what to look out for in the winter sky.
• Telescope Session 2pm - 4pm Look through an 18th century telescope.
• Observing the Night Sky 6.30pm - 8.30pm Drop in and gaze at the night sky, right here in the Museum Gardens. Free, no need to book. Part of the Illuminating York festival.
