I have read on the Yorkshire.com website that Turner visited Fountains Abbey on his first trip to Yorkshire in 1797......He made three detailed pencil sketches (two with watercolour) in two large sketchbooks that he carried with him and then during the following winter developed a watercolour to exhibit at the Royal Academy in the spring. Turner revisited Fountains Abbey in 1816 and made a number of sketches on that occasion and a watercolour of the base of Abbot Huby's tower."
So why not make your base one of the Valley View Farm Cottages and plan a visit to Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Water Gardens. If you would like to book a stay at one of the Valley View Farm holiday cottages then you can book online by clicking on the link or alternatively book over the telephone on 01439 798221.
