Repairing Stone Walls On The Farm

We have been busy repairing some of our old stone walls and building new stone walls.

It's a busy time here on the farm as we have our sheep lambing later, so we are getting ready so we are getting ready for the ewes to lamb and making sure the fields are ready when we need to turn out the ewes and lambs.

We are based in the North York Moors, in a tiny village called Old Byland with stunning scenery, the views are amazing and the countryside is tranquil. You may just hear the sound of bleating lambs, but that just adds to the wonder.

Stage 3 Tour De Yorkshire Passes Up Sutton Bank

We are delighted that the 2016 Tour De Yorkshire will be practically passing our doorstep on the 1st May with the Stage 3 cycle route going up Sutton Bank to Helmsley.

As you can see from the map the Stage 3 Tour De Yorkshire will start at Middlesbrough then will pass through the following places - Great Ayton - Stokesley - Hutton Rudby - Northallerton - Thirsk - Sutton Bank - Helmsley - Kirkbymoorside - Hutton-le-Hole - Danby - Glaisdale - Grosmont - Whitby - Robin Hood's Bay, finishing at Scarborough! 

With Tour de Yorkshire 2014 remaining a lasting legacy throughout the area, we’re so excited for its return! Millions lined the race’s route cheering support for Bradley Wiggins, Ed Clancy and Sarah Storey (to name a few) as they wound their way through the glorious Yorkshire countryside, the atmosphere was electrifying! Some of our team were there watching the action.

Neighbouring Scarborough hosts the start and finishing lines for the race during the weekend. Valley View Farm is a perfect place to stay during the event. With six gorgeous cottages to choose from, you’re promised a memorable holiday away!

Why not bring your bike on your break away, the Tour de France of 2014 has inspired scores of folk to get on their bikes and take up cycling as a hobby, so you could explore the North Yorkshire scenery by bike. With a network of cycling routes across the Yorkshire Moors and extending out across the Yorkshire coast, you can explore the scenery and stop off for refreshments at local tearooms and pubs enroute!

We'll have experienced falconers onsite throughout the day to answer questions and demonstrate the exceptional predatory skills of these magnificent birds. Don't forget to bring your camera! Flying display.

6th– 8th May & 13th-15th May -  Late Spring Steam Gala North York Moors Railway -  the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is looking forward to welcoming steam enthusiasts and families alike for two great weekends during its Spring Steam Gala.
