North Yorkshire Moors - Organised Walks in May

The North Yorkshire Moors is a beautiful piece of countryside to explore and there is no better way to discover the hidden jewels than by foot.  This year the North Yorkshire Moors National Park have put together a special programme to offer guided walks by Park Rangers with everything from a short family stroll to a 12 mile hike.  Taking part on the walks is free but you are required to book in advance.

Heres whats available this month;

BlueBells in Springtime, Sunday 6th May
A walk through open fields into woodland that should be a carpet of bluebells at this special time of year.

A 12th Century Planned Village and its Landscape, Sunday 6th May
Starting at Appleton le Moors this is a 5 miles walk exploring British Romano to early Medieval sites via ancient trackways and later lanes.

Hairstreak Hike, Saturday 12 May
Dave Wainwright of the Butterfly Conservation Trust will show how butterflies are being protected and their habitats enhanced.

Coxwold and Newburgh Walk, Sunday 13th May
A 4 mile walk through the charms of Coxwold and surroundings whilst discovering the tales behind the honey coloured stone buildings including a peak towards Newburgh Priory.

Sixty Things to See and Do When on a Walk, Saturday 19th May
This is a 10 mile walk to mark 60 years of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

A Meeting with Remarkable Trees, Saturday 26th May
This walk offers a rare opportunity to see some ancient trees, some of which are more than half a millennium old.
