The trips are 3 hours in duration and depart from Grape Lane, Whitby. The trip consists of only 20 people per trip so booking is essential particularly during busy times.
The group will walk up the abbey steps along the cliff top path to a place called Saltwick Bay where the trip organiser will give a talk about how to find fossils and what to look for.
Then the fossil hunt begins with a slowly walk back to Whitby along the foreshore as the tide retreats.
Fossils of some description are always found.
The trip is run by a qualified palaeontologist.
